Love and Loss
To love brings unspeakable joy
To lose love brings unspeakable sadness
The heart is constricted in both love and loss
The heart strings are connected
They pull hard from the chest
Inward to the pit of the stomach
And squeeze until your breath leaves
Like fifty ropes tied around you
Some don’t love or care
For them it is easier not to love
To be callus and not feel at all
For them there is no loss
What an empty life that would be
To not love and be loved in return
For that is where the Spirit lives
To have love for others
Even though the heart is heavy
The constriction being so strong
In pure ecstasy and pain
both love and loss are worth it in the end
