The Old Woman
He passed by her downtown
The glimpse he saw seemed the part
Ragged and with her belongings
But not the look in her eyes
There was a confidence on her face
She was not the normal street person
She had the look of a Grandma
She asked for only used clothes or money
He had to come back to talk to her
He grabbed a twenty from his wife
And went back with his youngest daughter
They say don’t give money to the street people
He asked her “Do you do drugs or drink?”
She said, “No I don’t do that stuff”
He knew the signs and she had none of them
She was no addict
“Where do you live?” he asked, “Here and there” she said
His heart looked into her eyes and saw a difference
He could see her soul through her eyes
“Someone stole my scarf yesterday but I got another”
He thought, is she an angel on the street
On a corner testing him to see what he would do?
It was the Spirit that told him to talk to her
“Your Dad is a good man you should be proud”
There she was in the shadows in the Pouring down rain
She said “I can leave now and God gave me a scarf”
“I have a hole in my retina you know”
“I can’t eat the same vegetables all the time.”

Where is her tribe?
Where is her clan or family
